- James Blunt
- Chris Brown
- Imogen Heap
- Corinne Bailey Rae
- Carrie Underwood
"New" is always somewhat subjective here, given that many musicians record and perform for years and suddenly Grammy recognizes them as "new" artists. Of course its mainstream success that's being judged here. The only one that's a head scratcher is Imogen Heap, who released her first album in 1998. The others are pretty legitimate. Three Brits (Blunt, Heap, and Rae) is a pretty strong showing for the UK. Despite that, I'm surprised that another Brit, KT Tunstall, didn't make the list.

Imogen Heap?!? Never heard of her!
Also: Would someone introduce Ms. Tunstall to the period? It's K.T., not KT! '80s country star K.T. Oslin knew this. Why don't you?
Snoozefest 2006.
Doesn't James Blunt look like the Napolean Dynamity kid?
I agree it's kind of boring. I guess I'm rooting for Blunt, but he was "new" for me in 2005, so it feels weird. James Blunt is way better looking than Jon Heder. KT Tunstall is sort of redundant since the KT stands for "Kate Tunstall." It's like "ATM Machine."
The Napoleon Dynamite kid is tres annoying, as they say in France. I didn't think that movie was funny at all.
It's tres annoyeux. Stipud American.
Someone brought that movie for the gift exchange at the party we went to tonight. Only 1 person stole it. The Office Season 1 DVD was way more popular.
