Critics Love Take That's Progress

A few reviews are already published for Take That's new album Progress, out next week. They are quite promising:

  • BBC calls it an "ebullient, daring album which sounds more like a fresh start than a final destination." They make comparisons to David Bowie and U2, and cite "The Flood," "SOS," "Kidz," "Underground Machine" and "Pretty Things" as highlights.
  • Virgin does a track by track. And although they give it 7/10, they do cite several tracks as evidence the group is exploring a new sound. About "SOS" they say "This is where producer du jour, Stuart Price, really stamps his presence and it's all techno, techno, techno beats and bleeps a la Confessions era Madonna."
  • Q magazine gives it four stars.
I still haven't see anyplace where you can preview the tracks. In the next few days, I'm throwing a bit of a Take That festival to celebrate the new album.

It's quite good. I was a bit taken aback at first listen and found it a bit relentless, but overall i i've come to believe it is rather marvelous.
