- BBC calls it an "ebullient, daring album which sounds more like a fresh start than a final destination." They make comparisons to David Bowie and U2, and cite "The Flood," "SOS," "Kidz," "Underground Machine" and "Pretty Things" as highlights.
- Virgin does a track by track. And although they give it 7/10, they do cite several tracks as evidence the group is exploring a new sound. About "SOS" they say "This is where producer du jour, Stuart Price, really stamps his presence and it's all techno, techno, techno beats and bleeps a la Confessions era Madonna."
- Q magazine gives it four stars.

It's quite good. I was a bit taken aback at first listen and found it a bit relentless, but overall i i've come to believe it is rather marvelous.
