Grammy Nominations - Pop

I did a good job predicting the pop nominees this year--I got four of the female and album nominees and five in the male and pop collaboration categories.

Female Pop Vocal
  • Adele - Chasing Pavements
  • Sara Bareilles - Love Song
  • Duffy - Mercy
  • Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
  • Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl
  • Pink - So What
Great line-up and nice to see they stretched this to six this year (the men got six too). I got four right--and had Adele and Katy Perry in the running. Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine" was shut out. Pink is a third-time nominee after "Get the Party Started" and "Stupid Girls." Everyone else are first timers.

Male Pop Vocal
  • Kid Rock - All Summer Long
  • John Mayer - Say
  • Paul McCartney - That Was Me
  • Jason Mraz - I'm Yours
  • Ne-Yo - Closer
  • James Taylor - Wichita Lineman
Pretty easy call here--all five of my predictions were nominated plus James Taylor. I hope Ne-Yo wins, but it will probably be a boring choice like Jason Mraz or John Mayer. Ugh. John Mayer and James Taylor have won this three times each.

Pop Duo or Group with Vocals
  • Coldplay - Viva la Vida
  • Eagles - Waiting in the Weeds
  • Gnarls Barkley - Going On
  • Maroon 5 - Won't Go Home Without You
  • OneRepublic - Apologize
Looks like an easy win for Coldplay doesn't it? OneRepublic, which was passed over for ROTY, shows up here, as do the Eagles, who were also snubbed in the general categories. Maroon 5 has won this twice--last year for "Makes Me Wonder" and 3 years ago for "This Love."

Pop Collaboration
  • Alicia Keys & John Mayer - Lessons Learned
  • Madonna & Justin Timberlake - 4 Minutes
  • Maroon5 & Rihanna - If I Never See Your Face Again
  • Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Rich Woman
  • Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown - No Air
I nailed this one--a perfect prediction. Plant and Krauss should walk away with this one, unless Maroon5 and Rihanna steal it.

Pop Album
  • Duffy - Rockferry
  • The Eagles - Long Road Out Of Eden
  • Leona Lewis - Spirit
  • Sheryl Crow - Detours
  • James Taylor - Covers
Another nod for The Eagles, who may pull out a sympathy win here, since none of the albums here were nominated in the general AOTY category. Of course, I'd love to see Duffy win, but I doubt it will happen.
