Whitney Houston "I Look to You"

Whitney Houston is offering her new single "I Look to You" as a free download on her Web site until Friday. While I think this is a better choice than "I Didn't Know My Own Strength," I can't say I love it. Chris and I just listened to it and then right after to "I Will Always Love You," and she really doesn't sound like the same singer anymore. Not by a long shot. Still, I'm hopeful there will be some good songs on this album.

=[ I want this album to be good so bad! "I Look to You" is a nice song but I don't think it's brilliant--It's no "Always Love You." It's a shame how all of the great singers (Whitney n Mariah) can't sing like the use to.

I think the album is gonna sound like Jennifer Hudson's debut last year. The ballads I've heard so far really sound somewhat alike.

Yeah I agree. Too bad. I need to prepare my Whitney Houston retrospective like you did.

Don't forget about Madonna--I'd say this is the perfected time for a retrospective of her too.

it's sad, yet i'm strangely excited for the album. HOpefully there will be a few decent numbers on there. And yes, like Madonna, she needs a proper career spanning hits collection now.

Yes, a Madonna retrospective is a MUST. Maybe I can start thinking about them while I'm away next week. I totally agree Whitney needs to do her greatest hits. The US version of her 2001 set was a letdown. While it was kind of fun having all the dance remixes, it would have been better to have the originals (it was years before I could track down a proper version of "I'm Your Baby Tonight").
