Best albums of the decade

Over at the Billboard Files, J. Mensah is counting down his favorite albums of the decade in batches of 10. I won't do my own list until the end of the year--there's (hopefully) some really classic albums just waiting to be released in 2009--but I'm enjoying reading about his selections.

I'm up to 2004 for my own weekly retrospective of essential albums released this decade. There's one more album from 2003 you'll read about this weekend (Who could it be?!)

Wow I hate this list. This is my opinion, but I personally do not think that anything by Avril Lavigne, Hillary Duff, or a host of other artists here deserves to be on a list like this. Especially over Sam's Town, which is actually a fantastic album. Maybe it's just not my type of music, but I really disagree here.

Also, for the 2003 album, i'm gonna guess Elephant?

On a side note, if you're looking for some great 2009 albums, then i'll reccomend Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavillion" and Grizzly Bear's "Veckatimest". Both are kinda strange, and both are riding the annoying indie hype train, but they're really fantastic, really intricate works.

@Matt: thanks for your opinion, I'm not much of an alternative person, that's probably why my list doesn't concise with your taste. sorry, yo!

Be nice. I've seen the Billboard Files branch out quite a bit in terms of genre crossing lately. He certainly listens to more R&B and hip-hop than I ever do. He even dabbles in country!

I already did Elephant. The last 2003 album is a male British pop artist. Got his start on reality TV and make a surprisingly decent second album.

I'm check those out. I listened to a little Animal Collective and wasn't impressed, but I'll given Grizzly Bear a try.

Sorry if I seemed a little harsh, it's just not really my taste. Art is incredibly subjective, though, so I certainly have no problem with you and I having different music taste.

Though, props on giving Sam's Town a spot. That album doesn't get enough love.

Also, i'm stumped as to who the British pop artist is.

He's basically the British equivalent of Kelly Clarkson. Really, Kelly Clarkson owes him her stardome.
