Britney's Womanizer
At first I didn't like this, but it's growing on me. She seems to be more into it than she was for "Gimme More." Blackout was the definition of a "phoned in" performance.
"Phoned in" as in she didn't give the performance everything she could as if she had just been on the phone rather than there in person. There was a show in the 70s called Three's Company. The actress Suzanne Sommers got in a dispute over her salary. Rather than give it to her, the show cut back her part, limiting it to just a phone call in at least one episode. I don't know if that's where the phrase originated, but she literally just phoned in her part.
